I am an experienced educator and linguist with over three decades of teaching expertise in Spanish, French, and English. I earned my Ph.D. in Cultural Studies from Queen’s University in 2015, an M.A. in Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Western Ontario, and a B.A. (Hons) in French, Spanish, and English from York University’s Glendon College.
Since 1992, I have been proud to serve as an Associate Professor of Spanish in the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at Queen’s University. In 2018, I became a certified and accredited Neurolanguage Coach®, enabling me to combine my academic expertise with cutting-edge, brain-friendly approaches to language learning.
As a native English speaker fluent in Spanish and proficient in French, I am passionate about helping students achieve confidence and cultural understanding in their language studies. My teaching journey has taken me from Canada to Spain, where I taught English in Madrid and deepened my knowledge of Spanish pedagogy through courses at prestigious institutions such as the University of Salamanca and the Cervantes Institute.
Beyond teaching, I have contributed to the field of language education as an author and translator, co-authoring instructor manuals, reviewing prominent Spanish textbooks, and translating key works for UNESCO and the British Ministry of Defence. My academic research interests include cultural studies, Cervantes, and language teaching methodology, and I have presented my work at international conferences, including WISPS.
I am committed to academic excellence, lifelong learning, and innovative teaching methods. My mission is to empower students to master languages with confidence and cultural awareness, opening doors to personal and professional growth.
